The implementation of the clean heating policy in the northern region and the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy promotes the transformation of winter heating of rural residential buildings towards a clean, low-carbon, and efficient way. The calculation of heating energy consumption is an important basis for evaluating the heating energy demand of rural residential buildings, the energy-saving rate of standards, and the energy efficiency level of existing rural residential building energy-saving renovation. However, the current standards and literature research on rural residential buildings generally adopt the calculation method of energy consumption for whole room continuous heating, which is inconsistent with the current situation in rural areas. This paper proposes a new calculation method of energy consumption for individual room intermittent heating that is suitable for the use characteristics of rural residential buildings in cold zone based on rural current situation research. Under the different building envelope conditions that meet the current situation and the current national standard requirements respectively, the energy consumption and the relative energy-saving rate under two different methods are compared through the energy consumption simulation of individual room intermittent heating and whole room continuous heating in typical buildings in the cold zone.
